Artist Statement:
Xavier Bledsoe: Concept artist
I love to experiment with illustrating various thoughts that pop up in my head. I will go as far as creating a story out of these thoughts. I utilized real events that occur around me and fantasy elements to see a bigger picture of life as whole.
How far- I’m deep in this body of water, but how deep?
Out of Touch- From the surface
Reality- Not the reality reality that you and I actually see, but the one in my head. Pretty much, an estimate of feet.
I-The angelic half of me (The woman) [Let's call her Serphonus]
(Overall, these body of work represents a symbolic story.)
(Works 9-12 focuses more on other people's perspective.)

El suelo medio
Los Materiales
- Acrylic Paint
- Oil Pastel
This is the area that Serphonus go to rest up. The pathway is dark which brings more attention to what is around the path. Serphonus doesn’t look straight ahead as she’s moving forward. Her focus is what is around her path.

After Serphonus is done with the mystical night, she traveled to a hill sight. The sun’s bright ray of light beams highlights the tips of the grass a golden yellow. However there are a few problems in the scene. Firstly, the tree leaves are falling, but it’s spring. Secondly, Serphonus is absent from the area.
Diving into the body of water, I look at myself from a 3rd person perspective. It would appear that Serphonus has a different plan in mind.

El Ángel de la Muerte
Los Materiales
- Acrylic paint
- Watercolor
- Charcoal
- Oil Pastel
- Spray paint
All of a sudden, the perspective begins to shift rapidly. I could no longer see Serphonus in the picture. Instead, she was quickly replaced with a more vengeful spirit.
My heart was pounding louder than a beat of drum as witnessed what appeared to be a figure that looked similar to me. His aura was so dark that not even light could faze it. Red streaks of blood covered his body. He was holding an oddly familiar flower in his hand.
The worst of it all was that I kept hearing screaming as I slowly approached him. As I turned around to avoid him, I saw another figure that told me “You will learn more about him soon.” After that, I was immediately thrown out my dream state.

Los Materiales
- Sharpie
- Micron pens
- Fiber Castel Pens
- Ink wash
My intention was to create a bit of a historic look to the piece. The ink wash really did help set the scene. The main point "Lejos" is to tell a story from this demon's point of view. This was the beginning of my experiment with perspective.
